UPDATE: LinkedIn updated how to disconnect from someone on LinkedIn. It’s a positive change. I have updated the directions below.
One thing that really grinds my gears is when someone connects with you on LinkedIn, just to spam you on short order. To add insult to injury, LinkedIn makes the process on disconnecting from someone pretty unintuitive. That doesn’t make LinkedIn look desperate at all.
But here’s how to say STFU and GTFO to a spammer on LinkedIn:
Step 1: Click Contacts in the top navbar.
Step 2: From the Connections page, click the Remove Connections link in the upper-right corner.
Step 3: Select the person you want to kick to the curb.
Step 4: Click the Remove Connections button to the right of your contacts list.
LinkedIn made disconnecting from someone on LinkedIn much easier. Now just pull up the person’s profile page and follow these instructions:

I needed this post months ago. Thank you. It will be valuable for many. I wonder if Linked runs user testing (there’s probability) and if yes, why not make the button more visible?

Glad it helped! I do think it’s intentional. It would be so easy to recognize the issue of spammers who connect just to hit you with their desperate pleas. All it would take is a button, a link in all those emails they send out, an option when you pull up someone’s profile. But nope. Nada.

Thanks Annie. I had to google the abbreviations, age I guess.:)

Well, that was time well spent. 🙂
