
Below are just a few of the dashboards I’ve either overhauled (see image above) or built from scratch using Tableau. All of the dashboard tools—Tableau, Looker, and Power BI—are variations on a theme. The challenge with some the dashboards in the video is the client’s brand colors are red, gray, and black. Otherwise, I generally steer clear of red because of its negative connotations and issues with those who are red/green colorblind.
I had a large tax client for a year but am prohibited from publishing any of their dashboards, even redacted. But a treemap I built for them surfaced an issue with a keyword they were tracking that was too general but had eaten up an alarming number of resources (‘ride share’).
As you’ll see in the samples below, I have a strong gravitational pull toward interactive charts. I will stitch together filtered urls using the landing page, keyword, etc so dashboard users can click through to their report. I also write all my own SQL queries for reports.
