I’ve been dealing with this strange json error bug when I use Anthropic’s chatbot.
I stumbled upon a Reddit thread with a duct-tape fix for it that may work for others as well. There were a couple dead-ends for me until I tried a hack by thadiusp1.
From the Claude UI navigate to Settings (select your profile image, which for most is going to be your initials in the bottom-left corner) > Capabilities > toggle Code execution and file creation off.
I haven’t run into any issues with getting the json error when creating files, so if I need to do that, I’ll toggle it back on. But this bug bricks Anthropic so I’ll tackle repercussions down the road—and will probably use the API or ChatGPT for file creation.
